Top-fermentation. Re-fermented in the bottle.
Triple Karmeliet is one of the greatest Belgian classics. It’s based on a recipe from 1695 when it was produced in a Carmelite abbey in the Flemish city Dendermonde. 300 years later it was the inspiration for family brewery Bosteels when they decided to start brewing a three-grain beer as its next specialty. Tripel Karmeliet was born!

This Belgian triple ale combines three grains (wheat, oats and barley) to create a robust and smooth beer, with final fermentation in the bottle. Karmeliet is a strong beer (ABV 8.4%) but the alcohol content is as balanced and refined as every other aspect of this beer.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined golden beer with a beautiful clarity. It will form an impressively voluminous and creamy head that lasts for a long time. The aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus and bananas. An excellent introduction to the amazing taste you are about to receive: creamy, fruity and spicy all at once. A balanced brew, mixing the sweet with the bitter and the spicy with the fruit.
Tripel Karmeliet won the World Beer Award in 2008 for the "Worlds Best Ale", the greatest recognition a brewery can have!
Brewery Bosteels may not produce a wide variety of beers but the three they offer (Kwak, DeuS and Tripel Karmeliet) are fantastic Belgian beers. Each has a specific glass designed for it. Karmeliet is served in an elegant tulip beer glass. It was designed by the brewery manager himself. The glass is decorated with a stylish French lily.
In 2016, beer giant AB InBev has taken over the Bosteels Brewery. With the acquisition, the largest brewer in the world becomes even larger and expands its portfolio of craft beer breweries. Bosteels will continue to operate the brewery as part of AB InBevs craft and speciality division and will remain in its original location.
